Assignment Two: Unit Three
Another possible topic of mine would be how has society influenced economical systems, and how has economic systems influenced society? The terms I began my search with were economic systems, the subject headings I found in my search were consistent of conflict, case management, economics, systems, and advancement. Questions that came into my mind were how could I best explain the impact economic systems have had on society. The author of the print book I found is Pryor, Frederic L, the title is Economic systems of foraging, agricultural, and industrial societies, the call number is HB90 .P789 2005. The book discusses societies that have gone from foraging to farming and the economic systems involved in those societies as well as the economic systems of agriculturalists, going into advanced market economic systems and the systemic changes in those systems, and it goes over Marxism economics. The book found in the reference collection is written by Bannock, Graham, the title is Dictionary of Economics, the call number is HB61 .B33 1998. The book is about what the title states it is a dictionary of relating material of economics. The author of the ebook I found are Alice M. Rivlin and Joseph R. Antos, the title is Restoring Fiscal Sanity: The Health Spending Challenge, I wasn't able to find the call number for the ebook however. The information covered in the book is strategies for slowing down health spending information on medicare, helth reform, and how to increase the efficiency and effictiveness of crae provided. The information found on this topic made me think more about how much of an impact on a large scale society has on economics and economics on society. It's made it more complex by all the different areas economics can effect a given society in. My final topic sentence being most people generally don't realize how much of an impact economics has on society and in so many areas of everyday life, think of just about any aspect in societal life and economics has influenced that aspect in one way or another.
Assignment One: Unit Three
My beginning idea for a topic is how writers have had an impact on society. Some questions of mine related to the topic are: how have opinions of writers impacted widespread belief and agreement?, what have writers been defined as in society?, do current writers have as much impact on society as past writers?, what have been some of the biggest contributions writers have given to society?, how respected are writers in society respected compared to the writers of the past?, etc. When searching in the catalog I first typed in society under any field, then limited results to those available, under location I marked reference, for the material type I selected any, and english for the language. For searching the internet I narrowed my search by typing in names of specific authors I was interested in using within the research topic, and kept websites to websites ending in .org to limit links to useless information and untrustworthy sites. The angle I chose to come at to answer my topic from is in what ways have authors had an influential impact on society? My two broader topics are how writing has nfluenced society, and what role does writing play in society. My two narrower topics are what specific genre in leterature tends to have the most impact on society, and what few authors have had a great impact on society. Two questions that could enrich my topic are what are the jobs of authors in society, and how are most authors of literature viewd as in society. Throughout society's time there have been impacts on society from various different authors of varying genres, society in a way was influenced greatly by authors especially in past times. I'd say that my topic for them most part is something really interesting, and has become more complex than the original. I blelieve that if I were to continue with this process I could make my topic much more complex. This process has worked very well for me in preparaing me for having subject matter to discuss more fully. I wouldn't change anything about this process.

Assignment two: Unit two
Information gives you power in the sense that the more information you have about something the more time you can take out and think about situations that involve using the information you have gained. In deciding on a future career choice you have more of an understanding about said career and you have something strong to base your decision on the career choice you choose to pursue the more information you have. Information that you would have that would effect someone's decision about this would be what the job entitles and what the basic responsibilities would be along with the future potential of job promotion would be. Information that someone wouldn't have would be who you're working with who your bosses are and what everyday would feel like. Factors that would be unknown would be what the area of work would be like day to day, whether or not you'll like your bosses, or if you'll even enjoy working in that specific position. Information could potentially decrease the negative assumptions you'd have about people, places, things, and ideas but it does have the potential to increase the amount of negative assumptions about the above areas, however assumptions usually come from a person's lack of information. Also it would have the same effect in the assumptions of others. By passing information down to other people it will potentially eliminate someone's assumptions about a particular idea and when people are informed well then you can begin to eliminate biases people have acquired due to lack of proper information. Information allows you to deal with challenges by preparing you for how and what you'll be challenged with. Having information delays your action and increases your thought about problems and anytime you have more time to think about a situation the more productive your response to your problem will be.

Assignment One:Unit Two
Some definitions of information that I obtained are the communication or reception of knowledge or intelligence, knowledge obtained from investigation, study, or instruction, and the act of informing against a person. to obtain these definitions of information I typed definition of information into google's search engine and clicked on the link to Merriam-Webster online dictionary, because I was thinking about what website could give me the best description of the definition of information but at the same time give a broad enough definition to best describe it for what it's used for in the action of research. Viewing the module on information somewhat changed my thought process about what information truly is, by elaborating more on what the techniques for finding and where to go to find the information relating to what you're searching for. There's a lot more to information than what everyone believes once you get away from the most general ideas and definitons of information. The program delicious will change the definition of web information in the sense that information on the web tagged on with the program delicious won't be jest a bunch of keywords as much as information on the web has been.

Research Log Entries Part B.
Delicious is a social bookmarking web service, so basically you can tag your bookmarks and allow others using the delicious program to view your bookmarks and you can view your own bookmarks and everyone's tagged bookmarks that use the program. The main advantage of having this program setup in your toolbar is that no matter what computer you're on you can find your favorite sites that you've decided to bookmark from any computer, so you never forget the websites that you need for whatever reason that is. I wouldn't however use the delicious program due to the fact that I don't bookmark any websites often, I seldom will bookmark a website that I've visited.
Research Log Entries Part A.
The question I tried to answer using google as a search engine, was what are the statistics of drug use among youth. I used: what ARE THE statistics OF drug use among youth?, as the terms in the search engine. I tried capitalizing smaller words such as and and of as a search technique. First off the results of the website are based on a survey given to youths about various questions relating to their drug use, so the results are presented as fact but since it's based on a survey you can't know for sure how accurate the answers given by the youths are accurate and how many provided false information on the given survey. However in the opening paragraph of the presented results of the survey claims that the results of the survey are completely accurate which no information given on a survey could be completely accurate, because we all know that people lie especially on surveys as well as more times than not the questions on surveys tend to be very limited in being applicable to all answering the questions given on the survey. Hence the information given on the results of the National Household Survey are obviously somewhat valuable, but again not completely valuable due to the chances of falsely given information, and the site not being completely valuable due to them claiming that the results are COMPLETELY accurate. Also the date of the survey given on the site was in 2001 so it's not valuable completely to our current time. The article is clearly written and organized though. The site also does have a section for shopping so ultimately they're trying to sell a product or products, trying to get parents mainly to worry about the increasing numbers of drug use among youths and buy products claiming to aid them in combating those problems with their children. So ultimately the information given on the site can't be completely accurate although some of the information probably is true, but they are trying to sell a product so the site can't be completely trusted due to that fact. The question, by how much are they claiming drug use among youths has increased? kept me looking for information given on the question.

Reasearch Log Entry
Some of the discussion that was held in class that I already knew a little about was the uniform research locator. I knew that it was used to locate what website you're trying to get too, but I wasn't familiar with the exact name of the url abbreviation. I was also familiar with what the domain names stood for except the out of country ones only because I had never gone to a website that wasn't operated within the United States. I was also familiar with what a search engine was being an online operating system so to speak that helps you in finding sources of information related to what you are searching for. However I was not familiar with the fact that changing how the smaller seemingly less important smaller words are formated have a large influence on what is sent back to you in your search. I was not familiar to evaluating resources on the web though due to the fact that I hadn't really ever bothered with evaluating web resources muchm which is a bad thing. Exploring and evaluating the web in today's society is a very importent ability and knowledge to have because much of what we do is centered around the internet, it is also very interesting to myslef and an ability I am very interested in aquiring.
